During the construction of the old highway, fill debris including large boulders were pushed into the river. These boulders created a cascade feature that limited adult coho salmon and winter steelhead upstream migration. This project lead by the Coquille Watershed in conjunction with the BLM and ODFW removed broke apart some of the boulders and reshaped the river to allow passage
